Grow to Eat

Outdoor Activities Programme for Schools

For children aged 8-13 years

Supported by

A 6-week outdoor activities programme for schools, run for groups of up to 10 children on our small holding.

Our Grow To Eat schools programme is designed for children that would benefit from some additional support, encouragement and positive experiences in a different learning environment outside of the classroom.

This year, in collaboration with the Oakland Foundation, we are thrilled to offer fully funded places for schools in the Dines Green, Tolladine and Brickfields areas of Worcester. Please contact us for more information about funded places for 2025.

We provide tailored activities designed to help children improve their confidence and motivation and build skills in empathy, decision-making and working as a team. We have seen that engaging in different experiences on the farm opens children’s eyes to new possibilities and improves their views on what they can do and achieve.

Activities will focus on a different aspect of growing each week, in alignment with the national curriculum for Science, at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 level. The children will be given an area of the farm to sow their own vegetables, observing how seeds grow into mature crops and understanding the roles that water, light and temperature play in germination and growth.

There will also be time to engage in other activities such as meeting the farm animals, carpentry, cookery, campfires and sports. We will provide pupils with unique experiences and broad ranging skills development and learning opportunities in a relaxed countryside setting.

Each block will consist of 2-hour sessions led by our experienced staff each week, for a period of 6 weeks. Sessions can be scheduled for different days either in the morning or afternoon, according to availability. We can cater for group sizes of up to 10 children per session.

We are currently welcoming enquiries for Spring and Summer 2025.
