Our Impact

Our Impact

Our unique combination of practical, purposeful activities guided by well trained staff on an individual basis or in small groups, means that what we do has a real impact on the children we work with. We regularly get positive feedback from school leaders who notice the differences in children following time spent at Bonterre.

We have measured a range of metrics, including adapted versions of the KINDLR and Rosenberg surveys to monitor children at the start and end of their time with us, or periodically where they are with us for an open ended time. Our latest results showed that around 75% of children report an improvement in their attitude towards school.

When you remember that these were previously very disengaged children, the statistics are extremely positive. The results also show that the majority of children feel much more positive about their physical, mental and emotional health, as well as in their relationships towards friends and family.

Outside of the school day, we use our site to run other programs, such as a Wellbeing Hub for people struggling with isolation and loneliness, floristry workshops and community events.

Testimonials

We love getting feedback and wanted to share with you some of the comments we have had from parents and schools that have repeatedly used our services

Can I take this opportunity to thank your brilliant team for the effort made to re-engage [our pupil] and to help him. We will without hesitation approach/use Bonterre going forwards if the need arises for any young person and we would recommend your provision highly to other users – I told Mike when I visited, you’re saving lives, this is no exaggeration.

I cannot express my thanks enough to everyone here on the farm. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful things you have taught my son. When everyone else was ready to give up on him, this wonderful place scooped him up and showed him that with a different type of education he was a child that was also worth the effort!

Our students feel that they are contributing to something special and appreciate how their work fits into a bigger picture. The site is large enough to allow students time to work with others or have quiet time when they need it. Each session is very much built to meet the needs of our students and is very flexible around their needs each visit.  Our students really look forward to their time at Bonterre and we would have no hesitation recommending them to other schools.
