Ready Steady Cook Challenges
Our “Ready Steady Cook Days” provide an alternative, fun and educational way of bringing people together, helping them to grow individually and as part of a team. The sessions can be tailored for adults or young people and are perfect for corporate team building days and activities for Duke of Edinburgh, National Citizen Service, Scouts, Guides and faith groups.
Groups are split into teams and given a set amount of time to plan, pick and cook a three-course meal, using only a BBQ and a single ring burner. It’s down to each team to decide what they can create, using fresh seasonal produce from the farm and a selection of additional ingredients.
We encourage cooperation and sharing and facilitate the teams to ensure all members contribute and participate.
It’s amazing to see people coming together as a group and using their combined skills to produce incredible meals.
These events are great to help people develop practical cooking skills and the challenge of cooking with restricted ingredients is a great way of building awareness of shopping to a budget!
Collecting produce straight from the farm also gives people a greater awareness of where their food comes from and how to make the best use of local seasonal produce.
The Ready Steady Cook sessions can be run as stand-alone activities of three to four hours or can be combined with other activities to make a full day. Additional activities can be tailored to suit the group, but can include animal care, farming, floristry and conservation or more traditional physical team building activities and games.
